First Lady Rachel Ruto has officially launched the website of Siboh School and Sports Academy, a new mixed day and boarding institution in Uasin Gishu that aims to combine academic excellence with elite sports training.
The launch took place on August 18, 2026, in Eldoret, with the First Lady accompanied by her son Nick. Siboh is scheduled to welcome its first cohort of learners in January 2027.
The school will offer education across four levels — pre-primary, primary, junior and senior — under Kenya’s Competency-Based Education curriculum.
It emphasises critical thinking, analytical skills, character development rooted in a Christian ethos, ICT integration and pastoral care. International-standard sports facilities form a core part of its identity.
Conceived in 2022 to address the shortage of institutions that merge rigorous academics with high-performance sports, a site in Eldoret was selected in 2023. Construction began in 2024 alongside the recruitment of educators and internationally certified coaches.
The academy draws on Eldoret’s reputation as Kenya’s sporting capital and markets itself as a place where sporting greatness is an expectation.
In her remarks, Rachel Ruto stated: “Education is about more than good grades. It is about nurturing character, unlocking talent, building confidence and preparing young people for life.” She added that Siboh creates an environment where every child can discover and fulfil their potential.
The website launch marks the start of enrollment outreach, giving families in Kenya and beyond access to information about the school’s programmes and vision.
Siboh represents a promising model that recognises the dual potential of Kenyan learners — both in the classroom and on the field. By anchoring itself in Eldoret’s athletic heritage while committing to modern, values-based education, the academy could help produce well-rounded graduates ready for global competition.
Its success will ultimately depend on consistent quality, accessible opportunities and genuine partnership between educators, coaches and families as the first students walk through its gates next year.
