Billion-Shilling Bazaar Heralds New Era for Eldoret Traders

The construction of the ultra-modern 64 Market in Eldoret City is progressing swiftly. The project is valued at several billion shillings and is expected to be completed by early next year.

Once finished, the eight-storey facility will host over 4,000 traders. It is set to be one of the largest and most modern trading centres in the North Rift region.

Shape vision version for Eldoret

The 64 Market is located in the heart of Eldoret and is designed to completely transform the local business landscape. It will offer clean, organized, and secure trading spaces.

The design focuses on efficiency, accessibility, and creating better business opportunities. This aligns with Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim’s vision of a vibrant, inclusive business environment for all.

First Assignment for New Trade Director

On Monday, the State Department for Housing and Urban Development organized a site visit to the market. Dr. Shadrack Morogo, the newly appointed Director for Trade in Uasin Gishu County, led the delegation.

This marked his first official assignment since taking office.

He was accompanied by several county trade officers, who toured the site to assess progress.

Commending the Progress

Dr. Morogo expressed satisfaction with the speed and quality of the work.

“As an administration, our focus is fully on the completion of this market so our traders can make the most of it,” he said.

He added that the facility would significantly raise the standards of trade in Eldoret and benefit thousands of families.

Economic Growth and Opportunity

The market is expected to boost economic growth by supporting small and medium-sized enterprises. It will also decongest informal markets and provide better sanitation, safety, and working conditions for traders.

The project represents a major step toward urban modernization and economic empowerment.

Once completed, 64 Market will not only be a landmark in Eldoret City, but also a symbol of progress and opportunity for the entire county.
