Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has embarked on a series of unannounced inspections across the county, targeting key development projects that have faced implementation delays. The surprise visits come in the wake of mounting public criticism and internal frustrations within his administration.
Governor Bii’s action follows a stern warning to his county executive committee members last week, where he expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of project delivery. He emphasized that underperformance would no longer be tolerated.
“I have been humiliated enough by the people I serve,” Bii told his team. “It’s either you perform, or I kick you out.”
The governor’s remarks signal a shift in tone as pressure builds to fulfill the promises made during his campaign. Residents have increasingly voiced concerns over stalled or slow-moving development programs, particularly in rural areas.
On Tuesday, Bii began his impromptu tour in Tuigoin and Murgor villages in Tapsagoi Ward, Turbo Sub-County, with a focus on rural roads, water supply, and agricultural infrastructure. One of the major highlights was his visit to the Tuigoin-Murgor Bridge, a critical infrastructure project expected to significantly improve connectivity in the region.
“This bridge is a game changer for the road network in this area,” the governor said, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to complete key projects on time.
Local residents have welcomed the governor’s active approach, urging faster progress on the bridge, which they believe will transform the transportation of farm produce and improve access to markets.
“Crossing the river has always been dangerous, especially during the rainy season,” said Amos Chirchir, a local farmer. “We’re grateful that something is finally being done.”
Governor Bii also addressed recent criticism following his appearance before a Senate committee, clarifying that the session was a standard accountability process.
“My critics should not use that opportunity to cast false accusations,” he said. “We’re committed to delivering results, but we also ask for patience as we work toward our goals.”
The governor’s unexpected site visits are seen as a strong message to both his administration and the public—underscoring accountability, transparency, and a renewed urgency to deliver tangible progress.
