Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has reaffirmed his commitment to empowering women across the county, calling them the cornerstone of community growth and prosperity. Speaking after a vibrant women’s empowerment initiative in Kapsaos Ward, the Governor emphasized that investing in women is investing in the future.
The initiative directly supported 65 women-led groups, further advancing the county’s mission to foster economic inclusivity and gender equity. Governor Bii used the occasion to spotlight the County Enterprise Development Fund, which has now grown to over Ksh. 700 million, as a crucial enabler of women’s economic participation.
“When you empower a woman, you ignite the strength of an entire community,” said Governor Bii. “We will continue creating opportunities that unleash the full potential of our women.”
This event marks another milestone in Governor Bii’s ongoing drive to create a supportive environment for women entrepreneurs, community leaders, and caregivers. His administration has continually prioritized women-focused programs under the broader County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP), aligning with national development goals.
The Kapsaos event drew high-profile leaders from across the political spectrum, showing a unified front in support of women’s empowerment. Hon. Farouk Kibet, a senior aide to President William Ruto, was among the dignitaries present. Also in attendance were fellow county governors, Members of Parliament, and MCAs, each voicing their endorsement of the county’s progressive approach to gender inclusivity.
Beyond financial support, the initiative included training opportunities, networking sessions, and mentorship programs aimed at equipping women with tools for long-term success. Governor Bii also urged women to take full advantage of the available county funds and support systems to start or scale their businesses.
A County Committed to Inclusive Development
Uasin Gishu County continues to lead by example in building resilient, empowered communities. Through targeted programs, public-private partnerships, and grassroots engagement, the county is shaping a future where every woman has a seat at the table—in business, leadership, and innovation.
As Governor Bii leads these efforts, his message is clear: empowering women is not a one-time event but a continuous journey toward a fairer, more prosperous society for all.
