Trade and Cooperatives CEC Martha Cheruto Urges County Residents to Prepare for CAIP Opportunities

“Our people must seize these government opportunities for economic sustainability and the growth of our county,” Eng Cheruto urged. She highlighted that the industrial park would not only uplift businesses but also spur the growth of auxiliary industries and services, ultimately fostering a vibrant local economy.

The County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Trade and Cooperatives, Martha Cheruto, has encouraged county residents to gear up for the opportunities presented by the County Aggregation and Industrial Park (CAIP). The project is expected to be a transformative economic hub for local businesses and farmers.

Economic Benefits of CAIP

Speaking during a courtesy call with Karuna/Meibeki Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Hon. James Serem, Eng Cheruto underscored the far-reaching benefits that CAIP will bring to local communities. She reiterated the county’s dedication to ensuring the project’s successful implementation, emphasizing its role as a centralized hub for value addition and trade facilitation.

CAIP is designed to support local enterprises by providing essential infrastructure and resources to enhance production capabilities. The project will bolster product competitiveness and enable businesses to tap into expansive trade opportunities within the North Rift Economic Bloc (NOREB).

Government Support for Local Enterprises

“Our people must seize these government opportunities for economic sustainability and the growth of our county,” Eng Cheruto urged. She highlighted that the industrial park would not only uplift businesses but also spur the growth of auxiliary industries and services, ultimately fostering a vibrant local economy.

Hon. James Serem, who chairs the Assembly’s Agriculture Committee and is a member of the Trade Committee, stressed the project’s benefits for farmers, particularly those cultivating leafy vegetables and tomatoes. He expressed his intent to explore ways for local farmers to maximize the potential benefits of CAIP.

Strengthening Cooperatives and Trade Networks

“I’m particularly interested in strengthening cooperative societies through capacity building, enhancing trading centers in my ward, and exploring ventures that will enable farmers to benefit from the Cooperative Enterprise Development Fund (CEDF),” said Serem.

CECM Cheruto was accompanied by Drucilla Cherogony, the Director of Cooperatives, to discuss strategies for positioning cooperative societies to leverage CAIP opportunities. Their discussions centered on equipping cooperatives with the knowledge and resources necessary to thrive in the evolving economic landscape.

A Game-Changer for Economic Growth

The County Aggregation and Industrial Park is poised to be a game-changer for regional trade and industrialization. By enhancing product quality, providing market access, and fostering innovation, CAIP will propel local businesses toward sustainability and growth.

Cheruto’s call to action is a strategic move to prepare residents for the upcoming opportunities, ensuring they are well-positioned to reap the economic benefits once the project becomes operational. As the county gears up for this transformative initiative, stakeholders are urged to actively engage and align their businesses for success in the evolving trade environment.
