Winnie Jerop Defends Herself After Covering Musician Vicky Brilliance with a Scarf

The debate surrounding an incident at MC Ingo Ingo’s anniversary celebration continues after Winnie Jerop, artist, who covered musician Vicky Brilliance with a black scarf during her stage performance, came out to clarify her actions.

The episode, which quickly spread across social media, drew mixed reactions from fans. Some accused Jerop of embarrassing the Kalenjin singer in public, while others went further, suggesting that she had sinister intentions of “stealing her star” through witchcraft.

The backlash pushed Jerop to issue an official response, stressing that her actions had been misinterpreted.

The Incident

According to Jerop, she was seated in the VIP section alongside leaders, guests, and other women when Vicky Brilliance walked onto the stage. She claims it was immediately apparent that the singer’s outfit was see-through, with her undergarments visible.

The sight, she said, drew laughter, pointing, and even attempts from the audience to record videos.“As a young woman, I could not just sit and watch another sister humiliated before such a crowd,” Jerop explained.

She added that her decision to step in was purely to shield Brilliance from further embarrassment. Unable to find a leso nearby, she resorted to using her own black scarf. Before acting, she said, she whispered to Brilliance and sought her permission.

According to Jerop, the musician not only agreed but even helped her tie the scarf.

Jerop’s Clarification

Jerop dismissed claims that she had covered the artist because her outfit was “tight.” She insisted the real issue was transparency, not fit. On her part, she clarified that she herself had been dressed modestly in a crop top that day, so her intentions were not out of jealousy or malice.Importantly, she rejected accusations that her gesture carried any link to witchcraft.

“I don’t deal in such things,” she said, calling the claims both painful and unfair. She emphasized that her decision was an act of kindness, not an attempt to harm the singer’s career or reputation.

Support and Backlash

Despite the online criticism, Jerop revealed that Brilliance later thanked her personally, alongside fellow artist Baba Boys. She said they reassured her that no one had captured or circulated compromising images from the incident and encouraged her to stay confident.

Still, Jerop expressed disappointment that her goodwill had been twisted into unnecessary drama. “Anyone who knows me understands I acted out of respect and sisterhood. Dignity before clout. Always,” she concluded.

The incident continues to stir debate, with some fans insisting Jerop acted appropriately, while others believe she should not have intervened. For Jerop, however, the matter is clear: she would rather be remembered as the woman who shielded a fellow woman from ridicule than one who stood by silently.
