The County Government of Uasin Gishu has rolled out a major agricultural program aimed at uplifting farmers through high-value coffee farming. The event, held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the Kapsaret Sub-County Office, featured the distribution of coffee seedlings and issuance of Ksh.12.856 million in cheques to support local farmers.
Targeted Wards
The initiative, part of the county’s ongoing agricultural transformation agenda, benefits six wards: Simat/Kapsaret, Kipkenyo, Ng’eria, Racecourse, Megun, and Langas. It aligns with Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim’s Nguzo Kumi pillars, which promote wealth creation through agribusiness and high-value crops.
Guest Participation
The event was attended by Nandi Governor H.E. Hon. Stephen Sang, EGH, who applauded Uasin Gishu’s efforts to revolutionize agriculture. He emphasized the importance of counties working together to strengthen regional food security and promote economic development through farming.

Investment in Agribusiness
The Ksh.12.8 million funding is set to boost farm-level investment by enabling farmers to acquire quality inputs and expand production. The distribution of high-value coffee seedlings is expected to introduce farmers to new income streams and enhance agricultural output in the region.
Technical Support and Market Linkage
The Department of Agriculture, Agribusiness, Livestock and Fisheries has assured farmers of continued support. Training, extension services, and market access will be provided to ensure successful uptake of coffee farming across the county.
