Over 80,000 coffee seedlings arrived at Ziwa Auction Yard on Wednesday. The move is part of a county-wide plan to promote coffee farming in Soy Sub-County.
Agriculture Chief Officer Elphas Kesio chaired a planning session. It included ward officers, agricultural directors, MCA reps, and cooperative leaders.
Farmers to Benefit
The seedlings will be distributed on Friday. Farmers trained during a recent campaign will be the first beneficiaries.
Push for Cash Crops
Kesio said the goal is to move from subsistence to commercial farming. Coffee is among the high-value crops being prioritized.
Pathway to Prosperity“Coffee is no longer just a crop. It’s a path to prosperity,” said Kesio. He led the offloading of seedlings and spoke directly to farmers.

Support for Cooperatives
Farmers have also been guided on forming cooperatives. The county aims to strengthen value chains and improve market access.
Governor’s Vision
The program supports Governor Jonathan Bii’s agenda. He wants Uasin Gishu to lead in agribusiness and value addition.
More Help Coming
The county promises ongoing support. Farmers will receive training, technical help, and market connections.
