TechRun 2025 set the focus into motion as thousands gathered in Eldoret for a landmark race that blended athletic power with digital innovation.
The event drew elite runners from across the country. It also strengthened the city’s place as a global center for distance running.
The race offered KSh 1.2 million in prize money and encouraged young talent to aim higher. The event took place on November 30 and carried the energy of a growing movement.
Women Shine With Commanding Performances
The women’s 10 kilometer elite race opened the morning with steady pace and intense focus.
Mariam Lufti broke away in the final stretch and claimed first place. Miriam Chebet followed with a sharp finish that drew loud cheers.

Gladys Chepkurui secured third after holding her rhythm through the final climb.Each winner received a large award presented at the main podium. The checks highlighted the rising support for women in competitive sport.
Their victory became a reminder of the strength of young runners in the region. It also reinforced Eldoret’s long record of producing world stage competitors.
Men Deliver a Strong Battle at the Front

The men’s 10 kilometer elite race kept the crowd on its feet. Amos Kiprotich controlled the lead from the middle stages and closed the race with a confident surge toward the line.
Dennis Kosgei fought off pressure from behind and sealed second. Victor Kipruto came in third with a composed finish.
Their performance carried the message of the event. It showed that discipline and consistency still lift champions. It also marked a bright moment for runners who continue to use regional races as pathways to global meets.
Race Structure Rewards Wider Participation
The prize plan for this year’s edition widened the field of beneficiaries. First place earned KSh 200,000. Second earned KSh 100,000.
Third received KSh 75,000. Rewards stretched to the fifteenth finisher, with steady amounts aimed at encouraging new athletes.
This model strengthened the event’s purpose. It helped athletes across different levels feel included. It also supported the vision of using sport to spark innovation and community growth.
A Growing Platform for Talent and Technology
TechRun 2025 was powered by Eldohub and the UK Kenya Tech Hub with support from Athletics Kenya.
The event promoted health and digital literacy while pushing for greater collaboration among youth groups. It created a space where sport and technology shaped a shared goal for future opportunities.
As the second edition closed, many saw the race as more than a contest. It became a landmark that inspired a new generation to train harder, think bolder, and aim for lasting impact.
