ELDOWAS Announces 12-Hour Water Disruption in Eldoret

Residents of Eldoret and surrounding areas should prepare for a 12-hour water supply interruption on Wednesday, October 14, following planned maintenance works at the Sosiani Water Treatment Plant.

The Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company (ELDOWAS) said the interruption will run from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. to allow routine maintenance of the raw water transmission pipeline serving the plant.

In a public notice dated October 11, 2026, the company said the exercise is part of scheduled maintenance intended to improve the efficiency and reliability of water supply to Eldoret City.

ELDOWAS listed several residential estates, businesses and institutions expected to experience the disruption.

The affected areas include Eldoret Central Business District (CBD), West Indies, Lower Elgon View, Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH), Eldoret Hospital, Langas, Pioneer, Kipkarren, Yamumbi, Kipkenyo, Rivatex, Fire Station, Ken-Knit, KCC, Reale Hospital, St Luke Hospital, Boma Inn Hotel and Annex.

The planned interruption is expected to affect households, health facilities and businesses that depend on a consistent water supply.

Hospitals, including MTRH, Eldoret Hospital, Reale Hospital and St Luke Hospital, may need to make alternative arrangements to ensure essential services continue during the maintenance period. Hotels and other commercial establishments in the affected areas have also been advised to prepare for the temporary shutdown.

Residents in estates such as Langas, Pioneer, Yamumbi and Lower Elgon View are encouraged to store sufficient water in advance for drinking, cooking, cleaning and sanitation.

The company said other water treatment plants would remain operational, allowing water supply to continue in areas not listed in the notice.

ELDOWAS apologised for the inconvenience caused by the planned works and appealed to customers for patience and cooperation as the maintenance exercise is carried out.

The company said routine maintenance is necessary to support the long-term reliability of the water distribution system and reduce the risk of unexpected supply interruptions.

Customers seeking further information can contact ELDOWAS through its toll-free line, 0800-211-155, or mobile number 0724 255 538. Additional information is available on the company’s website, www.eldowas.or.ke.

Residents are advised to make the necessary preparations ahead of Wednesday’s scheduled interruption.
