Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has lauded Kapseret MP Oscar Kipchumba Sudi for leading a powerful economic empowerment initiative aimed at transforming local livelihoods.
Speaking during the event held in Kapseret Constituency, Governor Bii emphasized the need for sustainable development through strategic investments in people.
“Economic empowerment remains a vital driver of meaningful change in our communities,” the governor stated.

Kapseret MP Oscar Kipchumba Sudi, who hosted the event, echoed similar sentiments. He stressed the importance of long-term solutions over short-term aid.
“True empowerment lies not in providing temporary handouts, but in equipping individuals with the skills and tools they need to sustain themselves,” said Sudi. “Lasting progress is achieved through education, opportunity, and self-reliance.”
The event brought together top government officials and leaders from across the region. Treasury Cabinet Secretary Hon. John Mbadi was among those present, alongside several governors and elected leaders.
Governor Bii noted that the collaboration between leaders at different levels signals a united front in the fight against poverty and unemployment.
“We joined forces with colleague governors to support our hardworking women and youth,” he said. “They are the backbone of our economy and must be at the center of every development agenda.”
Hundreds of residents turned up for the program, which saw the distribution of tools, equipment, and capital to various groups. The aim is to boost small-scale enterprises, create jobs, and encourage self-reliance.Women received tailoring machines, salon kits, and farming inputs. Youth groups got welding tools, car wash equipment, and training opportunities.
Many beneficiaries expressed gratitude, calling the initiative a “lifeline” for struggling families.
Governor Bii reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to rolling out similar programs across Uasin Gishu.“This is how we build stronger communities,” he said. “By standing together and investing in our people.”
The Kapseret event sets the tone for more county-based empowerment drives, as Uasin Gishu aims to become a model of inclusive growth and economic progress.
