Kenyan content creator, comedian, actor and philanthropist Obed “Obidan” Dela is set to host the Eldoret edition of the “Kenyans for Kenyans” charity drive on Sunday, July 19, at Central Primary School in Eldoret’s Central Business District.

The community fundraising event will begin at 11 a.m. and is expected to bring together hundreds of residents, digital creators, religious leaders, businesses and well-wishers to support vulnerable families and individuals in the North Rift region.

Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has been announced as the patron of the initiative and is expected to attend alongside local leaders and community representatives.

The charity drive is part of Dela’s growing humanitarian campaign that has seen him use his social media platforms to mobilize Kenyans to assist families facing serious medical, financial and social challenges.

Organizers say this year’s Eldoret event aims to raise money, food, clothing and household supplies for several beneficiaries whose stories have attracted national attention.

Among the main beneficiaries are Sharon Cherubet and Gladys Cheruto, two sisters from Nandi County living with severe neurological disabilities that have affected their ability to walk and speak. Their story gained widespread public attention after it was featured on Citizen TV’s Shajara programme.

Funds raised during the event will go toward meeting the sisters’ medical expenses and helping their family build a safer and more dignified home.

Another beneficiary is Mathew Kosgei, a disabled resident from the region who requires financial assistance and other essential support to improve his quality of life.

Organizers also plan to donate part of the collections to a children’s home in Eldoret to provide food, clothing and other basic necessities for vulnerable children.

The charity event has received significant support through online campaigns, particularly on TikTok, where Dela has encouraged Kenyans to embrace a culture of giving and community responsibility.

Volunteers have also been mobilizing residents across Eldoret and neighboring counties, urging churches, youth groups, businesses and community organizations to participate in what organizers describe as a day dedicated to compassion and hope.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend with cash donations, food items, clothing, bedding, school supplies and other household goods that can benefit the targeted families and children.

Organizers say every contribution, regardless of size, will help transform lives and strengthen community solidarity.

The Eldoret edition of “Kenyans for Kenyans” reflects a growing movement in which digital creators are using their influence beyond entertainment to mobilize support for humanitarian causes across Kenya.

The event will take place at Central Primary School on Sunday, July 19, beginning at 11 a.m., and is open to all members of the public.
