The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has clarified that Kenyans can still register as voters even after the official deadline of the nationwide mass registration exercise.
The Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) drive, which ran for 30 days from March 30 to April 28, 2026, officially came to an end with no extension granted. However, this does not mark the end of voter registration.
According to IEBC, eligible citizens can continue registering through constituency offices, Huduma Centres, and the commission’s headquarters. This ongoing process is part of continuous voter registration, which ensures the electoral roll remains updated ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The commission noted that constituency offices across the country remain key access points, allowing citizens to register, transfer their voting stations, or update their details at any time outside the mass drives.
This clarification comes after a surge in last-minute registrations during the final days of the exercise, particularly among young voters. Nationally, millions turned up in the final stretch, highlighting growing interest in civic participation.
IEBC has consistently emphasized that continuous registration is a constitutional mandate, ensuring that no eligible Kenyan is locked out of the electoral process due to missed deadlines.
For residents in Eldoret and across Uasin Gishu, this means voter registration is still accessible locally through IEBC constituency offices. The commission continues to encourage eligible citizens who have not yet registered to take advantage of this window.

As the country gradually shifts focus toward the 2027 elections, IEBC is pushing for sustained civic engagement, reminding Kenyans that registering early helps avoid last-minute rushes and ensures a smoother electoral process.
