Moiben Industrial Park Nears Completion as Uasin Gishu Eyes More Investment

The multi-million-shilling County Aggregation and Industrial Park (CAIP) in Moiben, Uasin Gishu County, is nearing completion, paving the way for machinery installation and the start of value-addition activities.

The latest progress comes as the county prepares to receive prospective investors who are expected to assess the facility and identify opportunities for installing machinery linked to targeted agricultural value chains.

Uasin Gishu County Executive Committee Member for Trade and Cooperatives Philip Chebunet inspected the project on Tuesday alongside department directors Kipleting Mengich and Drucilla Cherogony.

Chebunet said the ongoing works were an important step towards making the industrial park operational.

He said the investor visit would help establish the facility’s readiness and determine the machinery required to support processing activities.

The Moiben CAIP is designed to promote local value addition, create employment and strengthen the manufacturing sector in Uasin Gishu.

The facility will provide farmers and other producers with space to process agricultural products locally, potentially opening new markets and improving household incomes.

Once operational, the park is expected to connect farmers and other producers to aggregation, processing and markets while creating opportunities for investors and local enterprises.

The project is jointly funded by the national and Uasin Gishu county governments, with each contributing Sh250 million, alongside Sh10 million allocated for preliminary works, according to county project records.

The county has previously said the CAIP will support agricultural value addition and improve market access for farmers. In March 2025, then Investment, Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui said the Moiben CAIP was among industrial projects expected to strengthen Uasin Gishu’s position as an industrial hub.

Chebunet said the county will continue working with the national government, investors and other stakeholders to equip the facility and ensure it delivers the economic benefits for which it was established.

The planned investor visit is expected to mark another step towards operationalising the industrial park and expanding manufacturing and agro-processing opportunities in Moiben and the wider Uasin Gishu County.
