Eldoret Set for Smart City Upgrade in New Deal

Eldoret is taking bold steps toward becoming a modern smart city. This follows a strategic partnership between the County Government of Uasin Gishu and the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).

Together, they aim to improve engineering standards, upgrade infrastructure, and drive economic growth.

River Sosian to become a cultural landmark

One key highlight of the plan is the transformation of River Sosiani. The county plans to develop it into a cultural and tourism hub. Similarly, it draws inspiration from successful waterfront projects in cities like London and Beijing.

Manifesto commitment in Action

This initiative directly supports Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii’s development agenda. It falls under Nguzo Number 6: Infrastructure Development and Public Works. The goal is to roll out sustainable, high-impact projects that benefit all residents.

> “This partnership is a bold step toward implementing smart, sustainable infrastructure that supports economic growth and improves the lives of our people,”read a statement from the County Government of Uasin Gishu.

Moreover, Geoffrey Tanui, Chief Officer for Roads, Transport, and Public Works, reaffirmed the county’s commitment to quality. He noted that the region is ready to support investors with reliable and modern infrastructure.

> “We are focused on delivering investor-ready infrastructure that meets the highest standards of quality and safety. Eldoret is ready for transformation,”said Tanui.

EBK commit to Technical support

Meanwhile, the Engineers Board of Kenya praised the county’s strict adherence to construction standards. The board also pledged full technical support throughout the smart city development.

> “We are here to assess ongoing projects and provide recommendations that align with the smart city model,”said an EBK representative.

Building the future of Eldoret

Throughout the week, the EBK team will inspect major infrastructure projects. In addition, they will offer expert advice to ensure all developments meet national standards.

Ultimately, this partnership will bring lasting change to Eldoret. It will enhance public services, attract investors, and create more job opportunities.

As a result, Eldoret is now on track to become one of Kenya’s most advanced, livable, and well-planned urban centers.
