The County Government of Uasin Gishu, through the Department of Finance and Economic Planning, has announced a 100 percent waiver on all outstanding penalties and interest on land rates.
The announcement was made by Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim, who confirmed that property owners across the county will not be required to pay accumulated penalties and interest during the waiver period.
This waiver will remain valid until 31st March 2026.
Property owners in Eldoret and the wider Uasin Gishu County are now required to clear only their principal land rates arrears. All penalties and interest accrued over time will be fully waived within the stated period.
This move is expected to:
- Encourage compliance among land owners
- Boost county revenue collection
- Reduce long standing land rates disputes
- Offer financial breathing room to property investors
For many residents in areas such as Annex, Pioneer, Elgon View, Kapsoya and Langas, this presents an opportunity to regularize land records without the burden of compounded charges.
Alongside the waiver, the county government has indicated that it is currently validating business details within Uasin Gishu County. Business owners are encouraged to ensure their records are updated to avoid future complications.
Payments can be made through the Uasin Gishu County Self Service Platform:

Eldoret continues to grow as a commercial and residential hub in the Rift Valley. With property values rising and urban expansion accelerating, compliance with land rates remains a critical pillar in supporting infrastructure development, road networks, waste management and public services.
The 100 percent waiver offers a limited window for land owners to act responsibly while saving significant costs.
Property owners are encouraged to take advantage of the waiver before the March 31, 2026 deadline.
