Uasin Gishu County is set to receive a major boost in electricity access. The Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) has launched a high-voltage transmission project to improve power supply. This project will help homes, businesses, and institutions while driving economic growth.
Celestine Kaseve led a KETRACO delegation to unveil the 400KV transmission power line plan. The project will connect Lessos to Lossuk in Samburu. According to the Uasin Gishu County Government, it will benefit residents in Tarakwa, Kapkoi, Tulwet, Kipkabus, and Chuiyat. The improved electricity supply will make daily life easier for many people.
Dr. Silas Leting, the County Director of Energy, said the county is committed to supporting the project. He explained that it fits into the county’s energy policy and efforts to improve water supply.
Deputy Governor Evans Kapkea also pledged full support. He said the county government will ensure the targeted communities get the most from the project. Strengthening the electricity network is a key part of the county’s long-term development plans.
“This project will improve power reliability and create jobs for young people. It also supports Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim’s Nguzo Number 7, showing his dedication to the region’s growth,” said the county government.
This transmission project is a major step toward better infrastructure and economic progress. With reliable electricity, businesses can grow, and homes will have a more stable power supply. The project is also expected to attract new investors, further boosting the county’s economy. Uasin Gishu is moving toward a brighter future.
