Muslim Leader Demands Action Over Alleged Forgery in Eldoret

A prominent Muslim leader in Uasin Gishu County has raised grave concerns over the prolonged handling of a critical investigation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

The leader, Jamal Dirowo Omari, has accused the current leadership of the Eldoret Muslim Association of being involved in fraudulent activities, particularly in relation to forgery of association documents.

The matter, which has been pending for months, involves serious allegations that could jeopardize billions of shillings worth of assets belonging to the Eldoret Muslim community. Omari has now called for the DCI to expedite their investigation, pointing to the grave risks posed by the ongoing delays.

DCI’s Delays Putting Muslim Assets at Risk

In a letter addressed to the Director of Criminal Investigations, Amin Mohammed, Omari expressed his frustration with the lack of progress in the case. He particularly highlighted the absence of a response from the Registrar of Societies, despite repeated requests for vital information concerning the Eldoret Muslim Association’s registration status and its officials.

The request for information was made in May 2025 through the Eldoret West DCI office, yet no reply has been received, raising questions about the seriousness with which the investigation is being pursued. Omari emphasized that the constitutional time limits for such inquiries have long since passed, and the delays are undermining the Muslim community’s faith in the justice system.

Omari’s letter to the DCI underscored the detrimental impact of these delays, stating that “delayed justice is denial of justice.” He pointed out that the unresolved matter had left the community in limbo, with its resources and leadership in question.

Demands for Action and Accountability

In his letter, Omari called for immediate action to be taken, not just against the suspects within the Eldoret Muslim Association, but also against the Registrar of Societies for their failure to provide the required documentation. The community leader demanded a clear directive from the DCI, asking for a resolution to be reached swiftly in order to restore order and trust within the Muslim leadership of Eldoret.

“We request your offices to refer us to any other relevant institution or office in writing with full attached documents of 216 pages of our evidence filed in your office, so we can proceed and prosecute this matter,” Omari stated. He further requested that the DCI take swift action to report the matter to the Registrar of Societies and the office of the Attorney General, with the ultimate aim of bringing the case before the High Courts of Kenya.

Long-standing Battle for Eldoret Muslim Community’s Justice

Jamal Dirowo Omari has been a vocal advocate for the rights of the Eldoret Muslim community for several years, particularly in matters related to the management and ownership of their assets. Omari believes that a small group of individuals has illicitly taken control of valuable community properties, leading to serious financial mismanagement.

Despite multiple letters sent to various government agencies, including the Commission on Administrative Justice, Omari and other concerned members of the community have struggled to obtain information regarding the registration and leadership of the Eldoret Muslim Association. The persistent lack of cooperation from the Registrar of Societies has left the issue unresolved, despite its widespread impact on the community’s wellbeing.

A Call for Justice and Transparency

The situation has now reached a boiling point, with Omari emphasizing the urgency of resolving the matter for the benefit of all the Muslim leaders in Eldoret. He has called for full transparency and accountability, urging the relevant authorities to bring the responsible parties to justice and restore rightful control over the community’s assets.

As the case continues to linger in the courts and in the corridors of power, the Eldoret Muslim community remains in suspense, hoping that their cries for justice will finally be answered. For many, the hope is that the DCI and other relevant bodies will act swiftly and decisively, putting an end to the long-standing dispute and ensuring that justice is served for the people of Eldoret.
