Starling tobacco use in 2025

Recent statistics from the Ministry of Health reveal that 7.3% of youth in Uasin Gishu County (ages 15–24) actively use tobacco or nicotine-based products. This trend is driven by misleading marketing tactics and increasing access to flavored alternatives such as e-cigarettes.

Theme: unmasking the Industry

This year’s global theme, “Unmasking the Appeal: Exposing Industry Tactics on Tobacco and Nicotine Products,” aims to shed light on deceptive strategies used by the tobacco industry to lure young users. The event will feature talks, exhibits, and community education sessions.

Learning Opportunities

The public, especially youth, will benefit from:

Health checkups

Educational forums

Youth-led performances

Testimonies from former tobacco users

Empowering Youth with Opportunities

To ensure lasting impact, the county will also:

Launch the Youth Anti-Tobacco Champions Network

Showcase career booths, internships, and skills development programs

Provide scholarship information in the Heath.

A step towards a tobacco – free generation

This celebration is not just an event—it is a call to action for a healthier, tobacco-free future in Uasin Gishu and across Kenya. All residents are invited to take part in shaping a generation that chooses health over harm.
