Testimony Schools Founder Rev. John Alexander William Green Dies at 85

John Alexander William Green

Eldoret is mourning the passing of Rev. John Alexander William Green, HSC, the founder of Testimony Faith Homes and Testimony School, who died on 10 March 2026 at the age of 85. The cause of his death has not been disclosed.

Rev. Green was widely known in Eldoret and across Kenya for his decades-long dedication to providing education and care for vulnerable children. His work through Testimony Faith Homes and Testimony School impacted hundreds of lives, establishing a legacy that continues to shape the community today.

Early Life and Journey to Kenya

Originally from the United Kingdom, Rev. Green arrived in Kenya in 1968 with very little resources but a strong Christian mission to help disadvantaged children. Over the years, he and his wife Esther dedicated their lives to building a support system for orphaned and vulnerable children in the country.

His vision led to the establishment of Testimony Faith Homes, which provided a family-style living environment for children who had lost parental support. The initiative later expanded significantly and became one of the most recognizable charity-based children’s homes in Eldoret.

Building Testimony School

As the children’s home grew, Rev. Green realized that education would be essential for long-term empowerment. In 1981, he established Testimony School, which initially started as a nursery school before expanding into primary and later secondary education.

The school became known in Eldoret for combining academic learning with strong moral and spiritual values. Over the decades, it has educated both children from the homes and fee-paying students from the wider community, creating a model where education supported the sustainability of the children’s homes.

A Lasting Legacy

During his more than five decades of service in Kenya, Rev. Green helped raise and mentor hundreds of children, many of whom have grown into professionals and parents themselves.

His passing marks the end of an era for the Testimony community in Eldoret. However, the institutions he built—Testimony Faith Homes, Testimony School, and the fellowship around them—remain a powerful testament to his life’s mission of faith, education, and service to vulnerable children.

Rev. Green is remembered not only as an educator and missionary, but as a father figure to many who passed through the doors of Testimony Homes.
