Three-Day Water Shutdown to Hit Major Parts of Eldoret as Eldowas Plans Maintenance

Residents in major parts of Eldoret town and its environs should prepare for a three-day water supply interruption next week as Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company (ELDOWAS) undertakes essential routine maintenance.

In a notice dated 25th August 2026, ELDOWAS said water supply from the Chebara Treatment Plant will be temporarily interrupted from Tuesday, 1st September 2026 at 9:00 a.m. to Thursday, 3rd September 2026 at 9:00 p.m.

The company said the shutdown is to facilitate essential routine maintenance on the system.

According to ELDOWAS, a large section of the city will be affected. The areas listed include Kimumu, University of Eldoret, Marakwet Farm, Kapchumba, upper parts of Maili-nne, Munyaka, Kapsoya, Action Estates, Rift Valley Bottlers, Bio-Corn, Upper Elgon View, Eldoret Polytechnic, Annex, Langas, Racecourse, Kapseret, Chepkanga, Marura, Kamukunji, Mwanzo, Old Uganda Road and their environs.

All customers along the Chebara-Eldoret Pipeline will also be affected.

The water company warned that during the period, water bowser services will also be unavailable in the affected areas. However, other water treatment plants will remain operational to ensure continuity of supply in unaffected areas.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding,” said the Managing Director, Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company Limited.

Residents in the listed areas are advised to store enough water ahead of the shutdown and use it sparingly during the three-day period.
