Turbo Sub-County Launches Five Water Projects to Boost Access in Tapsagoi Ward

Turbo Sub-County has launched five major water projects in Tapsagoi Ward, marking a significant milestone in efforts to address chronic water shortages in the area. The projects, which were officially handed over for implementation, aim to improve access to clean and reliable water for thousands of residents.

The launch event was attended by key stakeholders, including Tapsagoi Ward MCA Nicholas Bitok, Ward Administrator Vincent Sambai, Assistant Ward Administrator Joseph Serem, county water engineers, and representatives from local water project management committees.

The five sites set for development are Chepkoilel, Turbo, Emsos, KAG Tegaiyat, and Murgor. These projects form part of a wider county strategy to expand water infrastructure and enhance the quality of life in rural and underserved communities.

In Chepkoilel, the project will include the construction of a 100,000-litre masonry tank, a main pumping pipeline, several distribution lines, and communal water points. This system is designed to ensure efficient water delivery to surrounding households.

In Turbo, the primary focus is on safeguarding the water source. This will be achieved by fencing the intake area to prevent theft and vandalism, accompanied by essential rehabilitation works to improve water reliability.

Emsos will benefit from an extended pipeline system and additional public water access points, significantly reducing the distance residents need to travel for water.

At KAG Tegaiyat, the project will introduce solarization, a new distribution pipeline, and the construction of public taps to promote sustainable and eco-friendly water access.

Murgor will see the desilting of an existing dam, installation of a solar-powered pump, and the laying of new distribution lines and access points to ensure consistent water supply.

Speaking during the handover, MCA Nicholas Bitok affirmed the importance of the initiative:

“These projects are a game-changer for our ward. Clean water access is a pillar of public health, education, and economic development.”

County water engineers Tabby Kipnyango and Boaz Korellach emphasized that the projects will drastically reduce the time and effort residents spend collecting water. This, in turn, is expected to enhance hygiene standards, support livelihoods, and improve general wellbeing.

Construction has already commenced, with strict oversight from both county officials and community-based project management teams. The collaborative approach is designed to ensure timely execution, quality workmanship, and long-term sustainability.

These five projects mark a forward leap in water accessibility in Tapsagoi Ward and reflect the county’s ongoing commitment to equitable development and service delivery.
