Residents in Eldoret should prepare for a temporary water shortage following a public notice issued by Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company (Eldowas). The interruption is linked to scheduled maintenance at the Chebara Water Treatment Plant.
According to the notice, water supply will be suspended starting Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. and will resume on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.. The planned shutdown is aimed at facilitating essential routine maintenance to improve long-term service delivery.
The interruption will impact several estates and key locations, including:
- Kimumu and University of Eldoret
- Kapchumba, Marakwet Farm, and parts of Maili Nne
- Munyaka, Kapsoya, and Action Estate
- Langas, Racecourse, Annex, and Kapsaret
- Chepkanga, Marura, Kamukunji, Mwanzo, and Old Uganda Road
- Customers along the Chebara–Eldoret pipeline
Industrial areas such as Rift Valley Bottlers and Bio-Corn will also be affected.
During this period, Eldowas has confirmed that water bowser services will not be available, increasing the need for early preparation. However, other treatment plants will remain operational to sustain supply in unaffected areas.
Residents are advised to:
- Store adequate water in advance
- Use available water sparingly
- Plan household and business activities accordingly
Eldowas has apologized for the inconvenience caused and assured residents that the maintenance is necessary to ensure reliable water supply in the future.
As Eldoret continues to grow, infrastructure upgrades like these remain critical in supporting the town’s expanding population and economic activity.
