Quickmart has strengthened its presence in Eldoret with the official opening of a new outlet at Basic Elgon View, marking its 67th branch nationwide. The launch, held on April 24, 2026, signals the retailer’s continued confidence in Eldoret as a fast-growing commercial hub.
Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim attended the opening ceremony, highlighting the county’s support for private sector investments that create jobs and improve access to essential goods. The new branch is expected to boost convenience for residents in the Elgon View and Pioneer and the wider Kisumu road area while contributing to local employment.

Quickmart’s expansion in Eldoret comes at a time when the town is attracting increased attention from major retailers, reflecting its rising purchasing power and strategic location within the North Rift region. The addition of the Elgon View outlet further intensifies competition in the retail space, offering consumers more choice and competitive pricing.
However, the opening has also sparked conversations among residents about service gaps in the town. A section of shoppers is now pushing for the new Quickmart branch to operate on a 24-hour basis. While the proposal has not been formally adopted, it reflects a growing demand for round-the-clock retail services in Eldoret, especially in high-density and fast-developing neighborhoods.
If implemented, a 24/7 model could position the branch as a key convenience hub, catering to late-night shoppers, shift workers, and emergency purchases. At the same time, such a move would require careful consideration of security, staffing, and operational costs.
As Eldoret continues to evolve into a major urban center, developments like this highlight both progress and emerging consumer expectations shaping the future of retail in the town.
