Quickmart Opens KSh15 Billion IPO at KSh7.50 Per Share

Quickmart has opened its KSh15 billion Initial Public Offering (IPO), giving Kenyan investors an opportunity to acquire shares in one of the country’s fastest-growing supermarket chains.

The offer opened on October 5, 2026, and will remain open until October 30 at 5pm. Quickmart is offering two billion existing ordinary shares at a fixed price of KSh7.50 per share through Sokoni Retail Kenya Limited (SRKL).

The retailer is expected to list on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) on November 12, 2026.

The IPO marks a major step in Quickmart’s growth from its beginnings in Nakuru to a national supermarket chain with branches across Kenya.

Quickmart has set the minimum application at 500 shares, meaning an investor needs at least KSh3,750 to participate in the offer.

Investors can apply through the company’s IPO online portal, the USSD platform 483803#, Safaricom’s Ziidi Trader platform, or through authorised stockbrokers, investment banks and designated collection banks.

Applications made through the USSD platform are capped at KSh250,000 per transaction.

Quickmart is not raising fresh capital

The offer differs from conventional IPOs because it involves the sale of existing shares rather than newly issued shares.

As a result, the KSh15 billion raised will go to existing shareholders rather than directly to Quickmart for expansion or other corporate activities.

Private equity firm Adenia Partners and Quickmart’s founding shareholders are expected to sell about half of their combined stake through the offer.

The sale provides an exit opportunity for investors who backed the retailer during its expansion while opening ownership of the business to members of the public.

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has also committed KSh1.94 billion as a cornerstone investor, providing institutional backing for the offer.

Quickmart valued at KSh30 billion

The IPO values Quickmart at approximately KSh30 billion.

The valuation is based on the retailer’s financial performance for the year ended 2025. Quickmart reported revenue of KSh50.4 billion and a net profit of KSh1.51 billion during the period.

The KSh7.50 offer price also gives smaller investors an opportunity to participate without committing a large amount of money at the outset.

Quickmart has expanded rapidly in recent years and has become one of Kenya’s largest supermarket chains by branch network.

The offer is open to Kenyan investors, with the company urging prospective shareholders to review the IPO prospectus carefully before submitting their applications.

The IPO will close on October 30 before the shares are allotted ahead of Quickmart’s planned NSE listing on November 12, 2026.
