Building a Foundation for Innovation and Youth Empowerment

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi urged young people to use social media responsibly, warning that misusing the platforms could have consequences, including denial of visas to travel abroad.

Speaking at the Software 2025 summit in Moi University Annex, Mudavadi criticized the trend of young people belittling top leaders on social media, calling it “uncouth.”

He said the government is keenly monitoring social media and will scrutinize accounts when considering visa applications.

Mudavadi advised young people to be good ambassadors of Kenya when traveling abroad in search of better opportunities, cautioning them against engaging in unbecoming behavior that could jeopardize their lives.

Echoing Mudavadi’s sentiments, Uasin Gishu County Government has launched initiatives to expand opportunities for young people to innovate and excel in the digital economy.

Governor Jonathan Bii said his administration has prioritized establishing and equipping ICT centers and providing Wi-Fi hotspots across the county to empower young people and foster a culture of innovation.”In this era of Artificial Intelligence, it’s crucial that we create avenues for our youth to harness the opportunities available in the digital space,” Dr. Bii said.

He noted that his administration is implementing a countywide program to provide free wireless internet hotspots, enabling young people to access digital resources, develop innovative solutions, and turn their skills into viable economic ventures.

Dr. Bii emphasized that Artificial Intelligence is transforming the way people live, work, and grow, particularly in the digital economy and agricultural sectors.

“Our goal is clear: to build a smart, innovative city where AI strengthens all pillars under Nguzo Kumi,” he stated.

The Software 2025 summit, attended by Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy William Kabogo and other senior government officials, aims to promote innovation and youth empowerment in the digital economy.
