DStv Announces New Affordable Packages in Kenya Starting at KSh 750

Pay-TV provider DStv has announced a new package structure in Kenya, with monthly subscription prices reportedly starting at KSh 750 from November 5, 2026.

The proposed changes introduce four packages targeting different categories of viewers, with the most affordable option reportedly offering access to selected live English Premier League matches.

Under the new line-up, the DStv Starter package will cost KSh 750 per month and offer more than 116 channels. The package is expected to include local entertainment and selected Premier League fixtures, potentially making live football accessible to more households.

The DStv Select package, priced at KSh 1,500 monthly, will offer more than 149 channels, focusing on family entertainment, including movies, television series and selected sports content.

Sports enthusiasts seeking broader football coverage will reportedly have the option of the DStv Sports package, which will cost KSh 3,000 per month. The package is expected to provide access to all English Premier League matches, UEFA club competitions, UFC and WWE programming.

At the premium end, the DStv Ultimate package will retail at KSh 7,300 per month, offering more than 180 channels. Its reported content line-up includes premium sports and entertainment, covering football, Formula 1, MotoGP, rugby, tennis and golf.

The proposed changes come amid growing pressure on traditional pay-TV providers to offer more competitive subscription rates as consumers increasingly turn to streaming services and other digital entertainment platforms.

In Kenya, the cost of accessing live football has remained a major concern for some viewers, while bar and restaurant operators have also faced challenges associated with commercial sports subscriptions.

The reported introduction of a lower-priced package featuring selected Premier League matches could attract customers who have been unable or unwilling to pay for more expensive subscriptions.

DStv, operated by MultiChoice, has faced increasing competition from online streaming platforms and alternative viewing options. A revised pricing structure could help the company retain existing subscribers while attracting new customers seeking more affordable entertainment.

The new packages are reportedly scheduled to take effect on November 5, 2026, with existing subscribers expected to transition to the revised line-up.

However, the detailed channel lists, migration arrangements and other subscription conditions would need to be confirmed through an official DStv Kenya announcement.
